A New Direction Chapter Three: New and Old Friends.
A night out at the club invites new opportunities for Cynthia.
“You know they don’t talk, right?” I smiled at the teenager behind the counter at the movie theatre desk.
“Sorry,” the young smiled as he gave me my ticket stub.
“You didn’t have to embarrass the guy,” Katy said as we walked into the movie theatre.
“He was embarrassing himself by staring,” I replied.
Katy didn’t know what it was like to be heavy-chested; the moment her chest got big, she went straight to the doctor and got them reduced; she was eighteen.
If she had been me, they would have been double their size. Poor Katy had D’s and decided they were too big for her petite frame. I was that size before entering high school.
“That’s why I am glad Mike doesn’t like big ones,” Katy shrugged.
Mike didn’t like big ones because he was a small man with small hands. When I met Jeff, he used to say anything bigger than a handful was a waste; after he met me, that quickly changed.
I had flown out to see Katy as she announced she was pregnant and that I would soon be a grandma. Knowing that Frederick hadn’t had a girlfriend since high school and Dawson was gay…
