Chapter Eight: One in a million
I threw another stone and heard it hit the back wall and then bouncing and echoing within the abandoned warehouse.
When I first met Craig, we would come out in the middle of nowhere within this vast city, throw stones and rocks at these windows, and vent about our lives.
Now there were no more windows between Craig and me, and the weather, all of them were broken and gone, but it still felt good to throw stones.
I had a decision to make, and it was a hard one.
While I loved being with Lauren and Brianna, there were many things I hated, and now I could change all of them.
My job, my apartment, my whole life. I could buy a house with land and be happy or stay here and be miserable.
I knew Lauren and Brianna wouldn’t come with me. Their lives were here in this city, and both got paid to do something they liked.
While Lauren came up here only to take care of her sister, I could see in her eyes she loved the big city. She loved going out on the town late at night with her friends. She liked sitting by the window and staring at the lights at night.
