Life’s Lessons Chapter Five: The Unexpected Situation
Carla’s relationship with her sister grows as April accepts her sister’s career choice.
I hated to admit it, but being an aunt was starting to grow on me.
After the Hawaii event and the two nights with the guys from Texas, I decided to take some time and not book anything. Which meant I had a lot of free time. I spent it mostly with my family.
Namely with my sister, but sometimes with the kids, and I had to admit it to myself most of all, I enjoyed myself.
“You know I could,” I said, looking over at my sister as we drove back to her house after a flag football game.
“No,” April shook her head, smiling.
“I mean it wouldn’t take much, I am just saying,” I said. “I promise.”
“No, Carla,” April smiled.
We were talking in our new code, so the kids in the back wouldn’t know the subject of our conversation. It was something we never did as kids. We didn’t have a code that no one else would know.
“Fifteen minutes, tops,” I smiled.
“Fifteen?” April asked.
“Look at her, then look at me,” I shrugged. “Might even be less.”
