I re-read the email for the fifth time. Again my heart sank, no matter how many times I read it, no matter how I tried to make it sound better than it was, the truth was I didn’t get picked for the management position.

Instead, Jennifer Hacobstein got the job, I was supposed to be her second, which was a massive jump for me in the company, but I wanted the management position.
