Things Could Be Worse: Chapter Five
Events and people mentioned in the next chapters are in my other story. KING OF THE MOUNTAIN. While it’s not necessary to read it, things would be a lot clearer.
“I don’t understand,” I said as if my head was about to explode.
Stephanie had filled in most of the blanks, and it was beyond anything I would have guessed, ever.
“What’s not to understand?” Stephanie said as we sat in one of the many lounges.
“You guys, I mean them or him,” I said, trying to wrap my head around everything she had told me.
“The Monarchy,” Stephanie smiled.
“Run everything, every government, every crime syndicate, everything?” I said.
“Not exactly run, but yes we have a hand in everything,” Stephanie nodded.
“And us, regular folk, you run us too?” I asked.
“It’s hard at times, but we steer things in the right direction when we need to,” Stephanie nodded.
“Why?” I asked.
“Order to chaos,” Stephanie shrugged. “If we didn’t, things would be chaotic, wars would break out over the simplest of things, neighbors would be at each other’s throats, smaller countries would be taken over by larger more powerful countries at whim, with us at the helm we can minimize…
